According to a recent survey conducted by SurveyMonkey Audience, an estimated 50.5% of American adults believe that a partner's romantic or sexual relationship with an artificial intelligence (AI) can be considered cheating. The survey, which was conducted among 2,150 U.S. adults, asked respondents about their views on AI romance and found significant support for the notion.
The majority of those surveyed who believed that AI romance could count as cheating came from urban areas, while rural residents were less likely to share this perspective. People aged between 25-34 years old were more likely than older or younger respondents to consider an AI's romantic or sexual relationship a form of cheating. In contrast, women and men in their 40s and 50s expressed no significant difference in their views.
The survey results also revealed that the perception of AI romance as cheating was influenced by factors such as social media use, level of technological expertise, and personal experience with artificial intelligence relationships. As technology continues to advance and become more integrated into our daily lives, this question remains an open one among researchers and individuals alike.
