Artificial intelligence engineers have been quietly selling companies top tech talent to other companies, bypassing online marketplaces altogether. OpenAI has announced a new managed product called OpenAI Presence, which allows companies to deploy enterprise AI agents without having to buy the technology directly from the company.
The move is seen as a shift away from traditional sales models where companies pay upfront fees for licenses or subscriptions. Instead, OpenAI's presence allows clients to access advanced AI capabilities through its Forward Deployed Engineers. The deployment process is led by OpenAI itself, rather than requiring direct interactions with the company.
The technology behind OpenAI Presence is reportedly similar to other AI products offered by the company, but it offers a more streamlined and cost-effective way for businesses to tap into the power of artificial intelligence. While not yet available as a self-serve product, OpenAI Presence will become a limited general availability programme later this year, giving clients a chance to experience its capabilities firsthand.
