KPMG has announced that it is pulling out of a report evaluating the impact of artificial intelligence on businesses due to concerns over its reliability. The firm's decision comes after a week-long assessment found that AI systems had become increasingly prone to hallucinations, which it described as "unreliable sources of information".
The company cited concerns about the accuracy and objectivity of AI-driven reports, citing examples from recent studies that have shown AI algorithms to be vulnerable to biases and errors. This has led KPMG's board of directors to decide that they cannot support a report that relies on AI for critical analysis.
KPMG's decision is not unique in this regard. Other major firms, including IBM and Accenture, have faced similar challenges with their reliance on AI sources. As the use of artificial intelligence continues to grow, concerns over its reliability are becoming increasingly evident.
