Amazon is poised to take delivery to an even greater extent with the planned expansion of its Prime Air drone service. The company plans to more than double its current number of locations served by Prime Air, reaching six times the number it currently covers today.
According to Amazon, this build-out will bring the total number of Prime Air locations in the US up to nearly 500 cities and towns across the country. This expansion aims to extend the service to communities with tens of millions of customers, further solidifying Prime Air's position as a leader in last-mile delivery.
Prime Air has been testing its drones for several years, but the company is now pushing forward with the rollout that will see thousands of autonomous aerial vehicles operating across the country. The expansion is expected to take place over the next three years, with Amazon aiming to reach its goal by 2026.
