A growing number of individuals have come forward to accuse a group of online creators, allegedly from Russia or Ukraine, of selling false odds for popular video games such as League of Legends and Dota 2. The accusations range from making tens of thousands of dollars by inflating the potential winnings on manipulated videos, to outright scamming unsuspecting players who paid top dollar for fake bets.
According to reports, many of these individuals created so-called "betting" services that appeared to offer genuine odds on in-game events or tournaments. However, upon closer inspection, it has been revealed that the videos featured in these advertisements were often filmed using near-perfect copies of the Polymarket website - a popular platform for buying and selling in-game items online. Furthermore, the trades and winnings depicted in the videos were not real, with some individuals claiming to have won thousands of dollars but having never even participated in any actual events.
As a result, many players are now being left out of pocket, losing significant amounts of money that they would have otherwise spent on legitimate gaming content. In response to these allegations, gaming websites and authorities are urging caution when dealing with online betting services, while those accused of running such operations are facing growing scrutiny from law enforcement agencies.
