Around 90,000 postmenopausal women in England are referred each year for checks after experiencing heavy bleeding, a common symptom associated with womb cancer. About 10,000 women are diagnosed with the condition every year. The NHS AI blood test uses machine learning algorithms to analyze blood samples from patients and identify potential signs of womb cancer.
The use of this technology could potentially reduce the need for invasive tests and minimize anxiety for patients who may not be diagnosed at an early stage. By assessing breast cancer risk through blood tests, women who are referred for checks can have a more accurate diagnosis and treatment plan in place. The NHS is expected to roll out the AI-powered test widely over the coming months as part of its efforts to improve patient care.
