Microsoft has announced the wider testing of its new Autopilot feature at the Microsoft Build event this week, backed by a post on the company's website. The feature is described as a category of agents that can work autonomously on a user's behalf, rather than being explicitly programmed to perform specific tasks.
Autopilots are unique in that they have their own identity and can be used across multiple Microsoft 365 services, including Office, OneDrive, and SharePoint. This allows for a more flexible and dynamic approach to AI-powered assistance, where different agents can be brought together to tackle various tasks.
The company is touting Scout as the MVP of this new feature, with the software already being tested on a limited basis. As part of the wider testing phase, Microsoft aims to further refine and expand Autopilot's capabilities before introducing it to customers later in 2024.
