Stripe has agreed to acquire OpenRouter, a company that provides an AI-powered platform for developers to access hundreds of machine learning models through a single interface. The deal adds the ability to select and route these models to various applications or services, in addition to existing work around using AI for token-based billing.
OpenRouter supports more than 400 different AI models from over 80 providers, according to Stripe. This expansion of its offerings is part of a broader push by the company to integrate artificial intelligence into its platform. With OpenRouter's model selection and routing capabilities, developers will have easier access to a wider range of machine learning algorithms.
The acquisition is seen as a strategic move by Stripe to enhance its AI capabilities and provide more flexible options for its users. The combined platforms are expected to offer greater flexibility in terms of AI integration across different applications and services.
