Google's DeepMind and Isomorphic Labs have taken a significant step towards mitigating the risks associated with artificial intelligence misuse in biology, unveiling an updated plan for their joint bioresilience program. The initiative, which began quietly but has gained momentum over the past 12 months, aims to enhance the resilience of AI systems in biological contexts while fostering response capabilities during outbreaks.
The program involves partnering with government bodies, biosecurity organizations, and research groups to build out more than 15 partnerships, thus spreading the risk and promoting best practices.
