Gatik, the Australian-based company behind an autonomous trucking platform, has raised a significant round of funding to further develop its technology and expand its self-driving freight delivery capabilities. The investment was led by Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and Koch Disruptive Technologies, with participation from Millennium Management, ARK Invest, Intact Private Capital, among others.
Gatik's founder and CEO Michael Smith has stated that the $200 million infusion will enable the company to accelerate its development of driverless freight operations across North America. The investment brings Gatik's total funding to over $600 million, with the additional funds being used to scale the company's technology and improve its logistics infrastructure.
The autonomous trucking market is rapidly growing, driven by advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and the need for more efficient and reliable transportation services. With Gatik's technology, companies such as Walmart and UPS have already begun exploring the use of driverless trucks to reduce costs and increase efficiency. As the company continues to develop its platform, it remains to be seen how far it will push the boundaries of autonomous logistics in the future.
