According to The Guardian, around 90,000 postmenopausal women in the country are referred by general practitioner (GP) appointments each year after experiencing heavy bleeding.
The problem with traditional assessments, which involve taking a series of symptoms and medical history into account, is that they can be time-consuming and may not pick up on subtle changes. That's where AI-powered blood tests come in. These tests use machine learning algorithms to analyze the results of routine blood tests such as those for calcium, homocysteine, and creatinine to identify potential risk factors for womb cancer.
The NHS AI blood test is expected to reduce the number of invasive womb cancer checks required, which can be a lengthy and often uncomfortable process. By detecting early signs of cancer through these tests, women may be able to avoid unnecessary procedures and potentially improve their chances of successful treatment.
